Lilia Waikiki underwent a remarkable transformation from a dated walk-up apartment complex to a stunning 27-story for-rent community, deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture and heritage.
Our involvement in this project was multi-faceted, covering key aspects of branding, graphic design, and event collateral creation. We developed a distinctive brand identity for Lilia Waikiki, drawing inspiration from Queen Emma’s legacy and her favorite flower, ensuring that every aspect of the property reflected elegance and reverence for nature’s beauty.
From designing garage wayfinding graphics to curating unique artwork through partnerships with local artists at POW! WOW! Hawaii, our team added a vibrant cultural touch to the property, enriching the resident experience. Additionally, we crafted a visually captivating and user-friendly website for Lilia Waikiki, showcasing its amenities, rental options, and community events. Our branded collateral for various events ensured consistency in messaging and visual identity, contributing to the property’s success as a premier rental community in Waikiki.
THE BRAND
The brand creation for Lilia Waikiki began with a design charette and Identity Workshop, aimed at understanding the property’s location and heritage. Inspired by the ocean’s beauty and floral elegance, we designed a logo capturing Lilia’s essence, blending creativity with symbolism.
The visual identity unfolded in two stages. Initially, we introduced light branding with flower and ocean plant illustrations, setting a thematic foundation. The branding culminated with Kamea Hadar’s collaboration, transforming our illustrations with vitality. His artistic intervention introduced genuine painted florals, enhancing the brand’s authenticity and cultural connection.

HOARDING DESIGN
The hoarding design for Lilia Waikiki blended Kamea’s flowers with bold design and typography and clear CTAs, adhering to Hawaii’s construction fence rules and community preference for art over brands. This approach ensured compliance and subtle branding that enhanced local aesthetics.
